AGU Fall Meeting is an opportunity to meet the best experts in geosciences and beyond. It was a great venue to share the Frozen Comons project’s research progress, receive feedback, establish new connections, and organize the project meeting.

The following events featured the project:

– December 15, 2025, from 16:15 to 17:45: SE14B – Art and Science: Working Together: Vera Kuklina shared experience of working together with artists and local and Indigenous communities.

On December 17-18, 2025, team members participated in organizing the sessions Convergence Research in the Arctic: Drawing from Diverse Disciplines and Knowledge Systems to Address Complex Societal Challenges. Shauna BurnSilver utilized an experience of work in the Frozen Commons and other projects to highlight the need and best practices of convergence and co-production research in an invited presentation. Vera Kuklina with FC co-authors Tatiana Degai and Andrey Petrov reflected on the experience of co-organizing an Indigenous Pavilion during the Arctic Science Summit Week in Boulder, CO, on March 24-28, 2025.

On the same day, on December 17, 2025, FC member Pavel Groisman co-organized a session Environmental, Socioeconomic, and Climatic Changes in Northern Eurasia, that featured posters created by himself and Mariia Kuklina, the team member.

Stanislav Ksenofontov presented the poster based on the results of the paper published in Arctic Science, available here:

Ksenofontov, S. S., Kuklina, V., Kholodov, A., & Petrov, A. (2025). On good terms: Pathways to decolonizing science-appropriated Indigenous terminologies in Arctic research. Arctic Science. https://doi.org/10.1139/as-2025-0025

Stanislav also co-presented a joint poster with the NNA Converging Working Group on facilitating Indigenous-led research.

On Dec 19, 2025 Alexander Kholodov presented a poster demonstrating the results of permafrost measurements within the project.

The team members also used this opportunity to hold a short team meeting, where they shared experiences from their last visits to communities and discussed the next year’s plans.
