The Frozen Commons team participated in the 18th Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference (WAISC), a gathering that brings together people committed to sharing local knowledge and science that matters to rural communities across Western Alaska.
This year’s conference centered on sustaining well-being, health, and subsistence traditions that are fundamental to life in the region – even as communities face rapid changes in their environment, ecology, and local industries. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas across cultures and disciplines, and to find common ground for working together.
